Here it is, the March 2015 events digest!
Alpha Nu Zeta had a table at the Spring 2015 Involvement Fair (the perks of finally being recognized by SB Life!). We mingled, met some prospective members, and showed off our fancy poster and sampling of Ursula K. Le Guin novels.
Here is Treasurer Jack Conte modeling our collective love of literature beside our poster:
And here we are chatting seriously about literature (or maybe donuts):
There were so many fantastic clubs and organizations represented, and we had a fantastic time promoting Alpha Nu Zeta and Sigma Tau Delta. Thank you to everyone who came by to support us!
Here is the February 2015 events digest.
This digest is meant to inform you of some of the most noteworthy literary events happening on and around campus. As always, this is just a selection. If you hear about an event that you think might be notable, or you can think of a way to make this digest better, please send me an email. I would really like this digest to represent the diverse interests and passions of ANZ.
This month, there are a lot of really fantastic events happening right on campus! Be sure to check them out.

Alpha Nu Zeta’s Student Poetry Showcase
Thursday, April 17th, 7-9PM at The Poetry Center
To celebrate Poetry Month, Alpha Nu Zeta is hosting a Student Poetry Showcase! Please join us on the evening of April 17th for an intimate gathering featuring live performances by talented student poets from the Stony Brook campus community. This is a free event, and it is open to everyone. A reception with the poets will follow the show, and light refreshments will be served.
For those interested in performing, here is the call for submissions. You do not have to be a current Stony Brook student to submit: Almuni are welcome!
Alpha Nu Zeta Call for Poets
Are you a poet interested in sharing your work with the Stony Brook literary community? Submit your pieces to Alpha Nu Zeta’s upcoming Poetry Showcase! Alpha Nu Zeta, the Stony Brook chapter of the International English Honor Society, is seeking poets from Stony Brook University to share their work at a live show in the Poetry Center this April. Poetry featured in the show will also be published on the Alpha Nu Zeta blog.
All varieties of poets and poetry are welcome, from sestinas to spoken word. You may submit as many or as few poems as you like; poets chosen for the show will be asked to perform for three to eight minutes, but how you fill that time is up to you.
If you have work that you would like to share, please submit it as an attached Word document to email@example.com, with Poetry Submission in the subject line. The deadline for initial submissions is Saturday, March 8th. Can’t make the deadline? Send us a quick email by Saturday indicating your interest, and we’ll try to work with you. (Note: If you feel that your work needs to be heard aloud, you may submit a video or audio file instead of a Word document). Finalists will be invited to an in-person audition on Thursday, March 13th.
If you have any questions about the show, please direct them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to hear from you!
